The Minimum Wage Announcement Poster (Spanish) is a labor law posters poster by the Washington Department Of Labor & Industries. Washington's minimum wage announcement poster is recommended, but not required, to be posted by all covered employers.
In Washington state, the minimum wage is increased annually on January 1st. This poster announces the latest minimum rate changes, and lists the rates applicable to general employees and minors (14-15 years old).
The amount of the minimum wage increase is announced each year by September 30th, and is determined by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries based on the cost of living as measured by the Consumer Price Index.
The minimum wage in Washington state is set to be higher than the federal minimum wage, and it applies to all workers in the state, including those who are tipped. Employers should note that several cities in Washington, including Seattle and SeaTac, have ordinances defining a higher local minimum wage, and may also mandate the display of local posters.
