I ncrease the du ration of time at full intensit y by no more than 20% a day until workers are used to working in the heat . Drink Co ol Water Drink cool water even if you are not thirst y — at least 1 cup every 20 minute s. Ta ke Rest Break s Take enough time to recover from heat given the temper ature, humidi ty, and conditions. Find Shade or a Cool Area T ake brea ks in a designated shady or cool location. Dress for the Heat We ar a hat and light- colored, loose-fitt ing, and breathable clothing if possible . W atch Ou t for Each Othe r Monitor yourself and others for signs of heat illness .
