Virginia Seizure First Aid Poster
Required
The Seizure First Aid Poster is a labor law posters poster by the Virginia Employment Commission. This is a mandatory posting for all employers in Virginia, and businesses who fail to comply may be subject to fines or sanctions.
Updated 7/2022. New Virginia law requires that all employers with 25 or more employees display this notice, on Epilepsy first aid procedures, in an accessible and visible location. The notice must be displayed in a size of at least 8.5x11.
The poster, created in partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation, provides employees with step-by-step guidance on how to safely provide first aid in the event of a seizure.

Seizure FirstAid
How to help someone having a seizure
S TAY with the person until they
are awake and alert after the seizure.
✓ Time the seizure ✓ Remain calm
✓ Check for medical ID 1
Keep the person SAFE .
✓Move or guide away from harm 2
Turn the person onto their SIDE
if they are not awake and aware.
✓Keep airway clear
✓ Loosen tight clothes around neck
✓ Put something small and soft under the head

✗ Do NOT restrain.
✗ Do NOT put any objects in their mouth.
✓Rescue medicines can be given if prescribed by
a health care professional
